Usually you hard disk drive contains certain partitions such as system reserved one's or back up partition that you may not want to display in my computer. For example my dell laptop includes partitions reserved 39 MB. There's no need to display such partitions as drives in my computer because you're not going to store any data on those kind of drives. Here's the simple tip that allows you to hide such drives from my computer.
- Open Disk Management in Windows 7. ( Click Start > and type "dsk" in the search box, click "Create and format hard disk partitions" )
- In the Disk Management wizard, you'll notice the partitions you have on the disk. To hide a disk drive from my computer, right click on that specified volume and select " Change drive letters and paths".
- In the upcoming window, click on the current drive letter and click Remove > OK.
- You're done. If you want to display any partitions instead, please do the reverse.
This post is nothing but a step by step guide to easily batch compress your images taken using digital camera. Usually, pictures taken using digital camera's are large in size may go upto 6-7 Megabytes depending on the camera pixel clarity (more megapixel's means more bytes). Usually if you're planning to upload all photos you taken using the camera to Facebook, Google plus or blogger, it'll take years to complete if your internet plan is a slower one. Microsoft Office Picture Manager allows you to reduce the size of selected pictures to less than 350KB or even less very easily & fast. This software is included in MS office suite so most computers have it installed.
Steps to reduce the size of selected images
- Open Microsoft Office Picture Manager.
- Find pictures copied on your computer from digital camera, using the picture shortcut. For instance, if your image files are copied in D:\pictures , then click File > Add Picture Shortcut.. and select the folder.
- Select required images (or all images by Edit > Select All)
- Click Picture > Compress Pictures.. Choose from the three compressing options, For documents, web-pages or E-mail messages.
Documents : Suitable for pictures to be used in documents. Recommended for uploading to social networking sites.
Web-pages: For on-screen display and faster page loading.
E-mail messages: For thumbnail display, faster loading and smallest file size.
- Click OK to compress photos.
- Click save to re-write the originals or click export to save as new image files. Finished.
In the earlier versions of windows, the programs or folders you opened were show up in the taskbar with a label exhibiting the name of the program or the folder etc. But in Windows 7, the taskbar is set to hide labels of opened threads and they're set to combine windows of same type. However the new system is opt for users who opens many programs and folders such that they wont clutter to make it difficult to pick the desired one. ie, more buttons can be placed in the taskbar simultaneously.
By the way, you can change this new set-up to the old one by a simple step. Right click on taskbar and click Properties. there you may see a drop down box with a label Taskbar Buttons: It is set to "
Always cobine,hide labels" by default. You need to change it into
Combine When Taskbar is Full or to
Never Combine. That's it.
