Samsung Locks Horns with Apple on the American Soil with the Galaxy S4

Apple’s iPhone series are the most favored handsets in the U.S., and Samsung has been working hard to grab that position for a while. The two manufacturers openly war against each other in the American markets. In fact, Apple had filed a case on Samsung last year claiming that Samsung’s devices were a rip off of the iPhone and iPad. Apple won the Patent lawsuit and won a hefty $1.5 billion in damages.

The company launched another lawsuit against the Samsung soon after, which it won again. In fact, it looked as if Apple were trying to get most Samsung devices, including the Galaxy S2 and S3 banned from the country over patent issues.

Samsung is a highly successful Korean company, and its Galaxy brand of smartphones have broken all sales records to place the company on the number one position worldwide. The Galaxy S2 and S3 have really great features. In fact, both devices were launched originally on the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform, and Samsung has lately updated them with the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system.

With this move, Samsung has not only given great customer service to its existing customers, but also ensured customer loyalty for repurchasing a Samsung device on their next purchase as well. Of course, most of its competitors such as Sony, LG and HTC have also released the latest Android update to their customers’ devices.

The latest device to be launched on the Samsung Galaxy S series is the Galaxy S4. It is one of the most eagerly awaited smartphones for this year. Expected to beat its predecessors Galaxy S3 and S2 by a huge margin in terms of speed and general specifications, the Galaxy S4 is truly a great innovation.

The device will be launched at an event in New York, USA on 14th March, 2013. The news was posted on Samsung’s Twitter page with a very catchy poster. One can see an open challenge being thrown at Apple with Samsung’s launch plans for the Galaxy S 4.

Samsung’s devices offer great features and are moderately priced when compared with Apple’s devices. The American giant is known for its fabulous device, which is highly coveted, even with their hefty price tag. Apple’s iPhone is the best device ergonomically speaking and has the best hardware inside. Samsung’s smartphones could never match up to iPhone’s performance or design, but the Galaxy S4 has all the right ingredients to threaten Apple’s position.

A brief look at Galaxy S 4’s specs reveals a 5 inch HD Super AMOLED touchscreen display with 1920×1080 pixels resolution at 440 ppi pixel density. Running on the Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean platform, the device will be powered by a 2.5GHz Snapdragon processor assisted by the integrated Mali-T658 GPU, and 2GB of RAM, which is the latest Snapdragon chipset, and promises great speed and performance. The device is rumored to have a 13 MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera.

Samsung devices had been getting redundant in terms of design, specifications and even innovation for a while. This is can be dangerous in a market where innovation and differentiation is the key to survival.

The Galaxy S 4 seems to be Samsung’s response to show it hasn’t slipped into complacency. However, we’ll get confirmation on that only on 14th March, the day of the big release!
