SamMobile has received exclusive scoop about Samsung’s upcoming flagship device, the Galaxy S IV. According to them, the Galaxy S IV will sport floating touch technology, the same kind used by Sony in their Xperia Sola. Samsung’s Air View technology—present in its Galaxy Note 2—recognizes when you’re hovering your S Pen over its screen, and a little indicator appears to let you know you’re in hovering distance. Samsung would most probably use the same interface, but sans the need of S Pen. That would be an interesting combo indeed.
Apart from floating touch, its already known that Samsung will introduce new smart functions such as Smart Scroll, Smart Pause, Smart Stay and Smart Rotation in the Galaxy S IV. All the functions are made possible thanks to the front-facing camera which will read your face as you’re watching the device.
SamMobile also reports about the new display Samsung may be employing in the Galaxy S IV. According to their sources, the Galaxy S IV will utilise a new kind AMOLED display material called green PHOLED (Phosphorescent organic light-emitting diode). The display uses Green-Yellow colour combination to apparently make it 25% more efficient, but it remains to be seen how the comparatively lesser lifetimes of blue PHOLEDs has been tackled. Like all flagships announced this year, the display will sport a Full HD panel.
Not late to the party, the Galaxy S IV will also have a new camera feature called Samsung Orb (a 360-degree panorama app). The device will be getting a 13 Megapixel camera and an Exynos Octa processor with 2GB of RAM. The exact specifications of the device are hard to pin-down as there are many prototypes of the device. According to them, the prototype A uses Exynos Octa processor with Full HD Green-PHOLED / AMOLED display and prototype B uses SuperLCD3 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 600.
Samsung will be announcing the Galaxy S IV on March 14th in New York. Be ready 4 the next and stay tuned for more updates.
