The US solid-state drive manufacturer Seagate has announced that it will launch its wireless storage device Seagate Wireless Plus, and wireless storage solution Seagate Central in India by March end. Check out its price and availability in India.
The famous hard-disk maker, who has delivered innovative storage solutions in the past, hopes to make a leap forward by making the storage go wireless, so that you can access your favourite movies, photos and music from anywhere in the world.
Seagate Wireless Plus
The successor to the much popular wireless storage Seagate GoFlex Satellite, Wireless Plus comes with improved battery life, enlarged storage and an enhanced range of operation. It provides 1 TB worth of memory space for media and other data which can be streamed to your mobile, tablet or PC over Wi-Fi. It boasts of a battery life of 10 hours compared to 7 hours in GoFlex. This means that if the memory of your iPad, which also possesses a 10 hr battery life, becomes full, you can still enjoy 10 hours of visual media on it via Seagate Wireless Plus.
This device now works over a range of 80 metres and supports wireless file upload via mobile or your PC/ Mac. The Seagate Media apps for popular platforms like Android, iOS and Kindle Fire HD have been updated and Seagate has also released a new app for Samsung smart TVs. The iOS app now comes with AirPlay support to project video from your iOS device to the big screen wirelessly via Apple TV.
Moreover, Wireless Plus supports three simultaneous video streams and 8 Wi-Fi connections. There is a USB 3.0 port too on one of the sides. Seagate Wireless Plus is launched in India at a price of Rs.16000/- exclusive of taxes.
Seagate Central
Touted as the ultimate home storage solution for devices of various creeds, Seagate Central stores and performs automatic backup of your content of smart devices and computers. It connects directly to your router via an Ethernet port (supports USB too) and connects with other devices on the home network through the Seagate software.
You can stream media just like the Wireless Plus, and it even provides to store photos from multiple Facebook accounts in its belly. When you are away and you need to access important data stored in Seagate Central, it doubles up as cloud storage and provides password-protected access from anywhere in the world through any browser.
Seagate Central comes in 2TB, 3TB and 4TB storage options. It will be available in India by March end or April start for Rs. 10,500 (2TB storage), Rs 14,400 (3TB storage) and Rs. 17,700 (4TB storage), taxes excluded.
