Many of us using Bittorrent clients for downloading torrent files from internet. For optimum speeds the software's like uTorrent must allow incoming connections to your computer. Port forwarding technique simply takes the data from the external ip address at a specified port to an internal ip address @ port. Here's how to setup port forwarding for Teracom T2-B-Gawv1.4U10Y-BI router provided by BSNL.
Before we can forward ports for bit-torrent, we have to set the port which it uses. Open uTorrent, click Preferences from Options. Click Connections on the left and checkout listening port. Choose a port between 10000 and 65500 since most ISP's will block ports in the 6000 range. click Apply after you're done.
Find your IP address.
- Click Start > type cmd, press enter, command prompt will appear.
- Type "ipconfig/all". You should find your IP address from there. It 'll be something like 192.168.1.x
Set Port Forwarding
1. Type 192.168.1.1 in your browser's address bar. Enter username:admin and password:admin
2. Click Security > Port forwarding on left.
3. Click Add : Then select User defined give any name.
4. Enter the IP address in the Forward to Internal Host IP Address: region.
5. Set Protocol/Type to ALL. (for all three)
6. Click APPLY. Reboot modem.
If the port is forwarded correctly, the uTorrent status bar will show a green icon. otherwise it will be a an orange exclamation mark.
Note: Make a backup copy of your router settings before changing anything in router page. This option can be found under admin on left panel. Also always reboot modem from LAST.
