ZTE and Intel are no strangers to each other. The Grand X IN was ZTE’s first flagship smartphone in Europe to feature Intel Inside. Today, ZTE has announced a strategic collaboration with Intel focused on the new Intel Atom Processor Z2580 platform, which was recently announced at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
The platform’s dual-core processor with Intel’s Hyper-Threading Technology provides double the compute performance and up to 3x graphics capabilities over the previous generation Intel Atom Z2460 processor while delivering the same competitive battery life.
The ZTE Grand X IN was one of the best-selling smartphones in Austria during 2012. The Android-based device is also available in Germany, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Macedonia, Slovakia, Moldova, Greece, Sweden, Norway, and is soon to be launched in France.
“The Grand X IN was ZTE’s first flagship smartphone in Europe to feature Intel Inside. We’ve launched it successfully across Europe in strong cooperation with Intel, and as a result have significantly increased our brand awareness in these important markets,” said Mr. Ao Wen, General Manager of ZTE Europe Mobile Devices.
“We are looking forward to both continuing and broadening the relationship with Intel to support ZTE’s growth in the high performance smartphone market segment. Intel is one of our strategic partners in the development of cutting-edge new mobile technologies.”
ZTE is the 4th largest mobile handset manufacturer in the world according to global industry analyst IDC. With this collaboration ZTE hopes to climb further in the mobile handset market share.
